Artist Statement

In 2015, after more than 30 years working in finance, I retired with the intention of pursuing art on an occasional basis. I was immediately captivated and within several months art production became a full-time endeavor. Starting with drawing in 2015, I branched out to monotypes, collages, and paintings. Any image may inspire me, especially if it can be juxtaposed unexpectedly with other visual components. Textures, whether manmade like the carved stonework of a building facade, or natural like feathers, especially interest me and are often depicted in my artwork. The surprises that arise when making monotypes motivate me to keep exploring. In my paintings, I enjoy taking everyday objects and elevating them through color and composition. While monotypes are my current favorite, I enjoy exploring all media.
